APEX Acronym for Advance-Purchase Excursion: a form of return airline ticket offered at a discount to the standard fare, provided that bookings both ways are made a specified number of days in advance, with no facilities for stopovers or cancellations. APEX fares are also available for some long-distance rail journeys.
