NSW: Party hard but don't abuse alcohol and drugs, says premier
Sydneysiders have been told to party hard .. but go easy on the alcohol and drugs tonight
as more than a million people are expected to flock to the city to watch the new year's
eve fireworks extravaganza.
Premier MORRIS IEMMA says everyone should have the time of their life .. but do it safely.
He says there'll be record numbers of police on the streets for anyone who wants to
behave like an idiot or a thug and intimidate families who have a right to enjoy new year's
eve celebrations.
He says the mounted police will be returning after the equine influenza crisis .. and
tjhere'll also be record numbers of ambulance paramedics on patrol.
The premier says no-one celebrates better than Sydneysiders and the people of NSW.
But he says there'll be people who'll overindulge .. and while ambulance paramedics
will be on deck again tomorrow morning to pick up the pieces .. he's hoping there won't
be too many pieces to pick up.
Mr IEMMA also says the police drug vehicle will be out testing drivers.
