Qld: Thieves blow up ATM, flee with cash
BRISBANE, Dec 6 AAP - Thieves have used explosives to steal an unknown quantity of
cash from a north Brisbane ATM, with the debris blocking off a road for several hours.
The thieves blew up the Bank of Queensland ATM around 4.30am (AEST) Saturday morning
before fleeing the scene.
The blast blocked off part of Robinson Road East, Geebung and was opened back up to
the public after 9am (AEST).
A police spokeswoman said glass on both sides of the ATM was smashed, but the ATM remained
in the wall.
She confirmed an unconfirmed amount of money was taken from the scene.
The spokeswoman said the road was closed so police could gather all the evidence in
the area before people started walking through.
Investigations are continuing.
