SA:Comancheros move into SA
ADELAIDE, Aug 4 AAP - The Comancheros bikie gang has established a presence in Adelaide,
police say.
Assistant Commissioner Grant Stevens said the chapter had emerged from the New Boys
street gang with members "patching over", or changing affiliations.
He said police were closely monitoring their activities but did not comment directly
on suggestions the gang had particular issues with the rival Hells Angels gang.
"I think there's an abundance of evidence that rival motorcycle gangs are in conflict
with each other on a regular basis," he said.
"We don't single out any particular club. Our intention is to monitor them all and,
where possible, prevent that conflict from impacting on the safety of the community of
South Australia.
Mr Stevens also declined to comment on how many members the Comancheros had in South Australia.
But the SA opposition said the new bikie franchise showed the state government's crackdown
on gangs and organised crime had failed.
Opposition police spokesman David Ridgway said he feared a bloody turf war.
"The Comancheros and Hells Angels clashed at Sydney Airport in 2009. One man was beaten
to death," Mr Ridgway said.
