Fed: ACTU to pursue state governments for paid maternity leave
The ACTU will lobby the state and territory governments to introduce a national paidmaternity leave scheme.
The Health Services Union of Australia pushed for the new policy at this week's ACTUnational congress.
It says the state governments should also pay for the $213 million-a-year paid maternityscheme proposed by Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner PRU GOWARD.
HSUA national secretary CRAIG THOMSON says state and territory governments have saidthey support national paid maternity leave, and should put their money where their mouthsare.
