SYDNEY, Feb 20 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard said today a major new sporting precinct
would be created on 100 hectares of the former Australian Defence Industries site in western
Sydney.

Last month, the government sold the former ADI site at St Marys to property company
Lend Lease, which also bought a residential community in Melbourne from the commonwealth.

The sales were worth $165 million.
