Fed: New vehicle regos up after two months of falls

CANBERRA, April 27 AAP - Motor vehicle sales bounced up in March after two months of
worrying falls for the industry.

Allowing for seasonal factors, the total number of new motor vehicles registered in
March rose 2.3 per cent to 63,250, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said today.

The figure represents a four per cent jump year-on-year, but is well down on the 74,581
recorded in December last year.

Passenger vehicle sales climbed by a healthy 7,491 to 56,772.

The biggest-selling vehicle was the Holden Commodore/Calais with 7,793 new models registered
in February, followed by Ford's Falcon/Fairmont with 4,354.
